Look around for what the bearing manufacturers say.
Or, I'll save you the trouble: "Don't".

that's fine and dandy, to want to run "stock" half groove bearings.

but I ordered stock replacement bearings from Clevite for a 360. I was sent full groove bearings.

When I called to ask about it, they told me they don't make "half groove bearings" because they "saw an opportunity to improve the factory design and did it"

they told me they didn't even OFFER stock type, half groove bearings anymore, but to not worry because their full groove bearings are superior to factory type.

What I think happened, was they saw a cost cutting opportunity, and stopped making the half of the bearing that did not have a groove in it, and decided it was cheaper to simply make 1 style of bearing half, that included the oil groove and the hole for the oil passage.
