I used a ATi 8" treemaster that was designed for a 528 behind a 580ci motor, it worked great street and strip. TBH I couldn't drive it fast on the street without wheelspin on the street tyres. That converter did take a dive when we switched to 3.73 from 4:10's, we just blew through it after that.

9.51 @ 142.4 1/4, 6.003 @ 114 1/8 with our old mule KB, 572-13, 580 wedge.
