How close are they to the head?


The piston was .011 above the deck, before this last mess. I have .051 Cometic gaskets. The piston now sits .014 above the deck. Too tight for my liking at this point.

I am counting on block growth as it warms to increase clearance the head. If we gain . 008 in clearance as it warms. All good. I am thinking I should do a test to make sure. Now to figure out how to heat the lock to about 160,' to find out for certain.


I'd like to think the clearance would be fine with an Aluminum block, but I just am not willing to take any chances at this point. This engine has been 2 years plus in the making. No need to risk it.
