Ha, you could today pull into the staging lanes with Billy Stepp's Dart Sport and it would not look out of place one bit. Change the wheels and hood scoop and no one would be the wiser. That's how far ahead of their time Pro Stock cars and cars that were similarly constructed (e.g., gassers) were back then, only 49 years ago and how little things have changed since then in regards to how the average drag car looks like today. Think about it.

Now, go back in time less than ten years from 1973 to 1965. Drag cars were crude in comparison and if you pulled into the staging lanes in 1973 with an state of the art doorslammer drag car from 1965 it would definitively not fit in with the other cars in the staging lanes.
