Sold an NOS one last year and have had about a dozen of them and the finish on yours looks correct. BTW, the K&N filter is just a little to thick to work right on a 71 Demon. BTW, it is a Segal not Regal. I don't see anything wrong with yours, they are not "polished", just natural cast and the paint that is on it looks normal and fine to me.
