I think the shear force of a 8 D finish nail is somewhere in the 5000 pound range, so.. Of course my friends 63 Polara with one of those aftermarket K-frames sheared off a 3/4 grade 8 bolt on the lca just backing-hard turning out of his garage, might have been just loose, the maker did make a brace to get double clamping to fix the issue. Grade 5 is a better stud-bolt to use on axels. I also think the type of wheel used has a lot do with strength, thick (Pro Star type vs thin (Centerline, Borgart), shorter the stud the stronger or less apt to bend over.
