I had the lug nuts shorten at a local machine shop because they were to long and not allowing the mag wheel to tighten down against the brake drum. Now they tighten down good but loosen back up after a few miles. I think the shanks of the lug nuts are a little to small for the bolt holes. Just my thinking. shruggy

They might need to be shorter. I cut my own w/o issue. Have you taken the wheel off and put the nut in the hole to see if it is still too long? How much of the wheel stud sticks out w/o a thread? I do know you should use the specific washers, but that usually applies to uni-lug. Perhaps if you took some of the chrome off the back side of the washers that might help. Something is up, I'd expect a few to loosen up but not all 20.
