I finally got my car to where I wanted it, and decided to take it up to Big 3 racing to make sure the tune was close before the tracks open for the year. Primarily a street car, but it'll see plenty of test and tune nights.
A quick rundown on the build.
'78 400 block, .040". 440 Source stroker kit with 4.25" ultralight crank with upgraded rod bolts.10.6:1 compression with Trick Flow 240 heads and Cometic gaskets. Scott Brown solid lift cam with Howard's EDM lifters and Hughes 1.5 rockers. Trick Flow Track Heat intake, 950 Thumpercarb, 1&7/8 tti headers with 3" exhuast and Dynomax Ultra-Flows. 3.54 gear with a 30" tall tire.
The dyno operator was impressed with the way it ran. Went up on the squirters, tuned the idle circuits, and changed plugs. Timing is set at 20 degrees initial and 34 total. Afr stayed pretty steady, I don't have the dyno sheet with me right now.
I went in hoping to hit 485 at the wheels. It hit 491 at 5500. Almost 570 torque around 3300. It leveled out aroung 5500 and he didn't want to push it any farther because wheel speed was over 130 mph. He said it should really run good if I went to a solid roller, but I think I'm good with it where it is.
I set out to hit 600hp with it, and I'm confident I did. Now to reach my next goal, which is to run 11.49/7.35 with a 4-speed and a 3.54 gear. I hope the link works.
