Heck yes, I put hundreds of laps on a stock early production 741 Posi unit(clutch type) with 3.91 gears in my 1969 Dart GTS 4 speed car with a 440 motor and 727 that ran low 11.s(11.17 best at 122+ MPH with slicks for hundreds of runs and some street duty.
I sold that car in 2002 to a friend after I put a 383 back in it with a 4 speed, he broke the rear U joint the 2nd day he had it doing burn outs and never hurt the rear with a set of BFG 275x60x15 drag radials on the car shruggy
I bought the car back in 2008 and have driven it for several hundreds mile since then with no issues at all up
You'll break a "489" case third member before breaking a "741" case with the same ratio and type of posi with the same driver and same driving conditions shruggy twocents work
