Basic answer is do whatever you want, it's your car. Some will like it, some will hate, but in the end it only matters what YOU think.
Now if it was me, I would skip the "lump" and just section the whole top half of the scoop and raise it. Same profile only higher. The lump looks like an after thought (which it was). But again, it really only matters what YOU think

scoop would look awesome with the openings at the same ht. as the lump; basically just the whole scoop raised to that ht. You see it all the time with taller 6-pac scoops. I'd love to see it. And don't apologize for applying this to "only a 10 second car". Don't let yourself get jaded, 10 second street E-bodies are mighty-cool indeed! and should never need to make an apology for anything! Great looking, and running car!!
