Two, the solid flat tappet is better because all the roller lifters as of late have very high failure rates....IE, lack of quality control. I am sure Barton told you that when you talked with him. If you go roller, better be prepared to send them back for checking regularly or risk a bigger problem.


Wow don`t tell that to the comp solid roller lifters in my old W2 motor, they have by now at least 12.500 street miles and right around 65 1/4 drag strip on them and have never been rebuilt.
The first 5000 miles the cam in the motor was small at .630 lift. The cam that is in it now .700 lift.

Some company`s do have a quality control problem.




Ya me too......lots of street miles and several passes in 8 years with one lifter rebuild but everything has a life span just haven't found mine yet and hopefully never will.
