You are not going to be able to buy a salvage 5.9 cummins with less than 150K miles for around $2800. Aint gonna happen. They are bringing 4 to 5K or more in my neck of the woods. If the truck is yours free and clear you should fix it and go on. With 265K on the clock, it owes you nothing. Everyone thinks they can drive these trucks for 500,000 miles and never open the hood. Not the case. Its just the way it is. I tell my customers all of the time you can do a lot of repairing vs the cost of a new truck. They have become ridiculously expensive to purchase new and many have decided to keep driving what they already have. Most of them say they cant justify a new truck payment as much or more than their house. Look at it this way, Whats $2800 bucks towards a new one? 4 or 5 payments maybe?
