Thanks for the feedback, but I don't understand where you're saying to use the push nut (not called a push washer). The attached photo is the backside of the hinge cover. There are two swaged pins/posts (right) that hold the button's spring steel plate to the hinge cover. Then there's the button's own swaged pin/post (center) that holds it to the spring steel plate. The interesting thing about all this is that the rod /pin (left) is part of, or attached to the back side of the button, and the larger diameter collar attached to the bottom of the rod/pin is larger than the hole in the spring steel plate. I grabbed the rod/pin with a pair of pliers to try and see if it would unscrew from the button, but it will not.
