The T is just a soldered connection wrapped in the black electrical tape on the main loom just behind the dash. ,no wonder you have a happy family, save me some EDIT make up a long jumper wire with alligator clips on each end (you'll use it many times in the future) & jump from the batt positive post to the downstream lug on the ammeter and check the batt large negative cable also if any doubt about it's continuity. lets get the ammeter out of the way
