The gear splitting feature is not limited to their product, it derives from the fact that their shallow OD ratio (.78:1) is closer than any automatic transmission's internal ratios.

The power loss through a transmission is NEVER a fixed percentage of power transmitted, and if it were 23% you'd know about it because it would be on fire.



The OD on the 518 is a heavy piece but it also goes
.69 OD which I believe is the most on any OD....
plus if I want I can leave it in OD and start out
in first OD, which I will likely leave the OD on all
the time except when racing
