Mine always stayed in 3rd until I was off the track. I never shut the engine off at the stripe with a 727 though. Once was enough. I would imagine just leave it in high gear. I would imagine at some point it "lets go" because there is no fluid pressure. I always go to neutral before clicking the engine with the glide.
