I have a 69 manual steering box in a 69 car, all suspension is brand new, and yesterday it seemed to get hung up or super stiff in spots, then sorta break free and return to normal.

Once I went to the lock full left, when there the steering wheel seemed unresponsive way more than the normal 3 inches of slop these mopars seem to have when I went to return to center, then again as I kept going right it seemed to snap back to life. A few other times it seemed super stiff (with a bit of friction noise) just right of center then would again sort of break free and respond somewhat normal.

I have only put about 150 miles on the car since owning it, which itself has only about 6-700 miles on it since restoration has been completed.

Is this caused by the adjustment screw being too tight? Lack of lubricant?

The box has been rebuilt, previous owner had it done, this I believe as I have the old worm and sector in a box, as when he had it done he put in a 20:1 ratio.

Any help is appreciated here to prevent me from pursuing the wrong direction to find the cure...

Thanks!
