Go to www.vintagev8s.com to see good pictures of their DeSoto Hemi intakes that Hot Heads sells. I've been bugging them and Hot Heads for a couple of years now to get a Poly intake into production, the $500 Weiand 7503s are just too expensive for what you get, and I've got one in my back yard. A modern dual plane intake should be much better than the Weiand.

The primary reason that Mopar made the LA out of the A was to shave about 50lb off the weight. Making it narrower was probably secondary.

I believe the 59 degree valve angle was carried over to save $ and I also believe the A motor was a copy of the original Firepower with slightly shorter bore spacing, 4.46" instead of 4.5625", roughly 1/10 of an inch shorter. But there's a reason the timing set from 354/318Poly/318LA is the same.
