For your application you need the disc as shown in the photo. It sounds like you have a regular style disc with a full marcel [s shaped spring in the middle of the disc] which does not hold up under adverse conditions.

The paddle disc has no marcel and uses metallic pucks which significantly reduces the release and lock up time when shifting...like night and day. As far as drivabilty with the paddle disc there are no issues as long as the concentricty of the b-h
is correct. There is a new metallic friction material avail now as well.
