FWIW...I ran into this on my '77 Royal Monaco Brougham some years back (sorry...the speaker manufacturer I used is no longer in business [Made in USA], so no recommendation to offer). I could not drop the speaker down further on the driver side due to the size of the magnet. I actually had to trim a little webbing on the back of the cluster trim, and it still would not fit. I ended up essentially raising the grilles with a layer of foam gasket material to get the needed clearance.
