Back when I had the car, I had a book on Buick GS's that proclaimed 501 or that's what stands out in my mind as I'm typing this, but that's been 20 years ago now so perhaps 801. Buyers would come and look at it and leave once they saw it was not a Stage 1 car.

On a side note...had opportunity to buy a Stage 1 engine still in the crate back in mid 80's in Lawton Oklahoma. There were 2 or 3 engines on hand for $1,000 a pop. Wonder what they'd go for today?

Just looked at GS Club of America site and they are showing 1,378 produced for 1971, so that number has morphed over the years. As stated, the numbers were contested back 20 years ago...still a low production car. Let's chuck it up to a "Senior Moment" Or a Fonzie used to say..."I was wrrrrrrr" "I was wrrrrrrr"
