Hello again all , once again I have another problem though this time electrical. On our resto build we decided to put in a shaker scoop instead of what it came with. We found that it wouldn't fit with the 2 speed wiper motor the car came with, so we bought a 3 speed motor at a swap meet and restored it. Upon installation, we found that the swap wasn't so easy...

The wiring is or course for a 2 speed, along with the switch, so there are going to be obvious problems but I didn't think they were going to be too bad. We have no park, and cannot seem to figure out the high and low speed settings and the ground is in and out depending on how we wire it. Strange... Is it possible for me to take a 3 speed switch, pop in the plug and pop the switch into the dash?? If not, what are my options????

something to remember is the linkages under the cowl are different between 2 and 3 speed

I know the switch is different and only assume the wiring is as well, but the wiring harness may already have the proper wires in the harness

otherwise Jules should be along with confirmation soon

And if a switch is all I need, where would I find one? I have not looked for one before.

1-The dash wiring is the same all engines all wiper systems. This is for 69-b-body models.

2- Wiper motor 2 speed-2770090
3 speed 2983116

3-wiper link 2 speed 2631799
3 speed 2822273

4-Bushing 2 speed 2631766
3 speed 2580200

5-Switch 2 speed 3004177
3 speed 2864014

The rest of the linkage ect is all the same.

So I am guessing all I need is a 3 speed switch and I will be ok??

E body 2-3 swap, I assume with the mention of a SHAKER, it's an E body? ....3 speed motor, harness is attached, plug into main bulkhead, you have this plus the correct linkage under the cowl, now you need the 3 speed switch and your done

Check to confirm your switch connector looks like this

If you have problems locating a 3 speed E body switch, I have a "few"...PM me on Moparts

Dayclona that is a 72-74 3 speed switch.
A 70-71 variable speed switch has 2 plugs. Like pictured.
You will need a variable speed switch ending with part number 380.
The linkage should have a half inch brass bushing at the wiper crank arm connection.
Part number ending in 293.
The crank arm must be a 289 ending part number.
Next the motor you bought must have the large half inch size nut on the rear shaft. If it is the
3/8 size nut , you have purchased a late 71- 74 style and may cause issues.

Your correct Jules,....the OP still hasn't stated what year E body, or what parts are in play yet,...but IIRC using a wiring diagram, and slicing off one of the molded "speed" connectors use can still use a 72-4 switch on the 70-1 harness, as I recall doing that on my 71 Challenger some time ago (like 30 yrs ago )

Is there is one terminal that is not used on the 3 speed switch on 70-71 e bodies?
