I’ve only seen the plastic ones. Even have an original Chrysler one on a 71 440 sitting here. Doesn’t seem to want to pull out either. Has to be homemade, right?

Thanks
Ok guess the ones I’ve had were all converted. The rockauto site lists the plastic one for 69.

The threads are for a locknut on the earlier push-on caps before Mopar went to grommets on the VC's.

I've got the same thing in one of my spare valve covers (don't remember the year of the engine). How DO you get it out of the VC? Is it just 'stuck' because the grommet is rock hard, or is it locked in place because of the threaded part?

How DO you get it out of the VC?
Burn the grommet out with a torch, then scrape it off. EZ/PZ. Even Propane or Mapp Gas. Anything handy.

Burn the grommet out with a torch, then scrape it off. EZ/PZ. Even Propane or Mapp Gas. Anything handy. Use a heat gun to soften it up.

Soak it, the valve cover, in hot water, 160F + and remove it carefully so you don't get burnt
