Haven’t seen a pcv like this before on 440

I’ve only seen the plastic ones. Even have an original Chrysler one on a 71 440 sitting here. Doesn’t seem to want to pull out either. Has to be homemade, right?

Thanks

Ok guess the ones I’ve had were all converted. The rockauto site lists the plastic one for 69.

The threads are for a locknut on the earlier push-on caps before Mopar went to grommets on the VC's.

You have to be old enough to remember that type.....

You don't want to fall into my category, I can assure you....

I've got the same thing in one of my spare valve covers (don't remember the year of the engine).

How DO you get it out of the VC? Is it just 'stuck' because the grommet is rock hard, or is it locked in place because of the threaded part? shruggy sawzall

Rock hard grommet makes them real tough to remove

Burn the grommet out with a torch, then scrape it off. EZ/PZ. Even Propane or Mapp Gas. Anything handy.

Use a heat gun to soften it up.

i would use a heat gun as transman suggests. i have used a torch before, and although it works, it makes a smokey, gooey, stinky mess in the process.
if a heat gun is not available, a box cutter with a new blade [or two] can cut the grommet in several places, freeing up the pvc valve enough to get it out.

Can you tell? smile

HAHAHAHAHA ! i hardly ever have an indoor work space unless i'm at the lathe, mill, or drill press !
it seems all the VEHICLE work needs done in the driveway. biggrin
i think it is because of my "stuff" collection ! laugh2

Still running the one out of my 66 Newport. Flush it out with some spray carb. cleaner and motor on.

Soak it, the valve cover, in hot water, 160F + and remove it carefully so you don't get burnt scope wrench up
