It's probably been asked before but I can't seem to find the answer.

Are 46RE and 46RH cases interchangeable?

RE cases have a round plug behind the manual shaft lever where the RH has an oblong plug.

You need a control module to run the RE where the RH can use a simple switch to control overdrive ( and lockup if so equipped ).

Actually both plugs are round where they go through the case but I believe the RE plug is larger so there is a bigger hole there.

The “plug” is round on the RE versus the oval “plug” for the RH. The plug is the external connector or female which attaches to the solenoid connector

The body for the solenoid “connector or male end” in the case is round in both applications.

RE is about 1.980” where the RH is about .920”.

Thanks everybody. My question was actually whether the cases themselves interchange. I'm looking into having another 46RH built and my trans guy can come up with all the parts except a good 46RH case.

The cases are interchangeable. The overdrive piston support differs between the RE and RH but that is a bolt in.
If you have a RE I guess you could have a sleeve (reducer) made that would allow the RH connector to fit the RE case.

Stay away from the real late RE case as they have E-PRNDL instead of the normal N/S switch. It looks like a box instead of the normal looking switch.
