The original stuff was long-strand fibrous grease but grease has come a long way so I'd use a synthetic like Green Grease.

Use whatever grease you have on hand. Not a critical (special need) area, as far as I can tell.

I would have preferred the original type grease. Amalie has a #4 grease that seems to be close to what I wanted but I don`t want to pay $45 plus for a small tub of it and not need it again. I really just want something that doesn`t leak and drip oils like some grease does. It is for a transverse torsion bar which seems to use some more grease then the older straight t bars. Seems like all modern greases have a high bleed out rate (drip, drip, drip) I've yet to find one that doesn't I have a 30 year old can of Lubriplate 930 that doesn't bleed out as much as most so that's what I use when I'm concerned about dripping. It's not lithium base so I only use where I won't be mixing greases. You might check with a local industrial bearing supplier for recommendations.

So what do you guys think the real purpose(s) the grease serves here on TB's?

I would think rust/keeping water splash out/as said noise/a side bennie- ease of removal (if ever needed). With em normally being in there for life I would think Ma's main thought was "noise" as minimizing customer complaints (to the dealership) might not be #1 but it is for sure close to it.

So what do you guys think the real purpose(s) the grease serves here on TB's? Keeps them from rusting tight and snapping. The bar moves back and forth a little bit during use so if the bars rusted solid then they probably snap. It is a harsh environment for a daily driver. Especially a car in the midwest with salted roads.
