Just finishing up on the RT restoration. It has been a while since I bought a high torque starter to replace the slow heavy factory one.
recommendations for brand, etc? Engine is a big block.

Doesn't the Mopar mini starter work here? There are many members turning some pretty big mills with a stock mini starter. I seem to remember Robb McC having high torque starters and he's a pretty good guy. http://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/starter_home.html#comparisonR.

If your on a budget the factory magnum starter - you may have to mess with the terminals to clear the block, depending on block and style you get.
If your a big baller the Robb McC one is indeed pretty awesome - plus it lets you clock the solenoid wherever you like for optimal header clearance.

I run a Ram 360 for a 99 Durango.there are at least two of them the 360 is the big one.Mines an Advanced reman and been cranking nmy 12.5 440 since at least 2000.My kid used the 440 Source one in his 62 413.No problems with it either.I did have to cut the studs down a bit for clearance to block. Not a big deal just nut them cut a bit off and the undo the nuts.Rocky
