Do some header bolt holes on big block connect with the water jacket? If so which ones. 1970 383.

what works for me is to use the OE shouldered studs & trim the outer fine threaded portion so there is only enough thread left to end up flush with the nut when tightened (keep in mind your gasket thickness choice) as any further protruding threads is a waste & hampers header fitment. You can also get high grade nuts that are half the thickness of the OE ones for even more gain

I second the use of shouldered studs...Try hard to use them and save yourself a big headache....Standard header bolts will all leak eventually I've tried everything...Some are sealed initially but after a few heat cycles they weep...And if you crank on them they'll leak...And..You get the picture...

Various sealants can be used to seal the threads... teflon pipe dope is usually considered the best.

I use ARP thread sealant and Stage 8 locking header bolts and never had any leaks.
