Yes they do unless you have aluminum heads.IIRC they all go to water.Rocky

Stock iron heads and MP stage 6 based aluminum heads , except for the E brock based heads ... they ALL go into water .
running up my post count some more .

what works for me is to use the OE shouldered studs & trim the outer fine threaded portion so there is only enough thread left to end up flush with the nut when tightened (keep in mind your gasket thickness choice) as any further protruding threads is a waste & hampers header fitment. You can also get high grade nuts that are half the thickness of the OE ones for even more gain

I always used antisieze.Never a leak even when we ran bolts and not studs.Rocky
