My block is already decked 1/8 inch, how much more can i take off? Reason being i have some issues on the deck and shaving would clear it up, then i would just add a spacer to get back to stock height. Any thoughts anyone? Its a 1968 block

Wow, bad deal. I guess you could deck to clean up, then use the spacer and double head gaskets. I would probably use head studs if I could since you have less head threads. Unless you are married to this block I would look for another.

Thanks for the answers. I'm thinking i need another 1/8 inch. Bob you said steel shim under the spacer, would copper work over and under better? I could cut the copper flush to the spacer, rings are lower so no interferance just don't want any gaps. Should i drill and tap the bolt holes deeper, i'm using studs?
The block is already cut .125 and you need to take off another .125 ?
What about welding up the scars ?

Good question... whats wrong with the deck....Have cut as much .220 off iron Hemi decks in the past with no issues.
