While it's true that not all blocks need to be bushed, many do- so I just bush them all if they are true race engines, plan on running a rolller or to correct some inherent problem. Then there is no worry. I believe it's a worthwhile addition to race block prep. There are other considerations as well. Not all lifter bores are sized and indexed properly from the factory and Chrysler did install oversize lifters in some engines as well- right at the factory. There is little chance a novice would catch this. But that would create a problem even with a flat tappet cam.

I won't get into the other benefits of lifter bore bushings as they are well documented. It just works for me.
