You did not read the op's first thread, he pulled off the cage and rollers, so there is no cage to grab onto anymore.

Depending on the interference fit I normally will not go banging on any bearings to install them.

Wrong again. That tool doesn't require that the bearing has a cage or rollers since it grabs the inner race so that the bearing can be reused like when setting diff bearing preload on a Dana.
