You have to remember this occurred like 15 years ago. The nitrous system was on a timer activated by the trans-brake button. He staged and had already pushed the button, but the bottom bulb was flickering. So he released the trans-brake to get another bite at the bottom bulb, as he moved forward the car died, then as he reached to re-start it, the timer went off and started spraying nitrous, or he must've went full throttle to fire it, not sure.
