Ive been chasing my tail on this so I thought Id get yalls input. Im looking for 500+ streetable HP from a 440. Im looking for mid to low 11s with this.

Id like to use my tunnel ram and holley 600 carbs.
Id also like to stay with a Hyd cam non roller

Everything else is changeable. I know this can be done with eddy heads a big roller ect ect. But Im looking to use what I have.

I have a stock late 70s 440 block and crank. I was going to keep the bottom end stock but bump compression to around 10-10.5 with a set of forged pistions. I also have a set of 452 heads.

Tranny will be 727 prepped with about a 3000-3500 stall. A Dana 60 with 4.10 gears tires about 28-30in.

What A body? I raced around with a 67 Cuda fastback
with a tunnal ram. How about a picture of the
ram. It might be to big for the street.
The 440 will work, but by the time you buy forged
pistons, have the rods resized and new rod bolts,
then turn the crank and have it polished, for a
few hundred bucks more you could do a 511 source
stroker.

Why a hyd. cam and not a solid? Solid cam will run just
as easy as hyd cam on the street, but will be of
better use with that tunnel ram.

Heads? Sell the iron 452's and get the Stealth's.
Doing up iron heads will cost almost as much as a
new set of stealth's. Dollar for dollar, the
Stealth's will out flow factory iron everytime.

I bet I already spent to much of your money.
If you do it right the first time, it won't
cost you twice the second time.

Lots of questions I hope I can answer them all.

1972 Plymouth Scamp. As far as the hydraulic cam. I was always told that solids are ment for the strip. That the hyd is a more streetable cam. Your exactly right on the heads. I looked at having the 452s worked. The guy wanted $899+ parts to do them. Well the stealths are $899 assembled. There also lighter. Here is a pic of the ram. Im running 2x600 VS holleys.
