The upper and lower bearing shells are the same material. I ccan find no evidence of either being machied differently for diametrical clearance. if they are installed upsidedown the crank fillet radius will be on the wrong side and may interfere with the crank journal radius. Pretty sure I can see edge wear from interference at the top of each picture. Doug
