Ok, thanks for the clarification. So you are saying even though my Dakota will become a 56 Dodge (as the 56 serial number will become the VIN), the state will maintain the emission standards for the 2001 donor chassis under the 56 Dodge. I do hope to use the plastic fuel tank and entire fuel system (including the filler neck, hose, vent, charcoal filter, etc) from my 2001 Dakota for the 56 Dodge project. My goal is to basically turn the 2001 Dakota sheet metal into 56 Dodge sheet metal, but use all of the Dakota mechanical systems. The current cat in my Dakota works fine, so hopefully it too can move over to the 56 build.
