Don't forget to also verify that the pad the transmission bolts to on the face of the bellhousing is square with the crank centerline, so that the transmission and the crankshaft are on the same centerline and not cocked in relation to each other.

Once you get the opening of the bellhousing centered in relation to the centerline of the crank, you can securely bolt the bellhousing down and drill to small holes for two locator dowels to make lining it back up in the future easier.
