Cutting the hose is easy. No worries there.

The hose consists of:
Inner PTFE hose.
Middle steel braid for structure.
Outer nylon braid for abrasion prevention.

Cutting the nylon back to install the fitting is the problem.

Mind you, this is an offcut I was playing with. The nylon is blasted out on this piece instead of the nicely taped and trimmed ends I used. The pic shows the type of hose I'm working with.


Ok, youre using a different kind d of black nylon braided hose. I use this type of hose for fuel & oils. It has a steel sleeve inside the rubber. I changed to this type of hose about a decade ago as it was considerably lighter & the hose ends were easier to fit, not stabbing with stray braid wire. Your hose looks like the std braided hose with a black sleeve on top. I cut my hose with a cutoff wheel in my 5" grinder, makes for a real nice edge to start with.
