Larry I'd be careful and would not run the set up as is until you get the linkage corrected. It controls line pressures in the transmission and could smoke the clutches in the trans if it isn't right. Find one of the old 3 piece adjustable kickdown linkage set or get one of the cable set ups.
I appreciate the wise advice and I haven't been driving it except a couple times as not to burn out trans with the early shifts. I held it down manually for later shifts the few miles I did drive it. I believe the one piece I mentioned got swapped out along the way when someone did the Edelbrock swap and didn't leave me the old one. It looks like factory linkage otherwise. I have adjustable linkage and loosened the block bolt down by trans but can't push the rod out of block because of popsicle stick piece up by carb doesn't have wide enough opening.

I have to take a pic, hopefully tomorrow!
