I can only guess that the reason your rubber bumpers are missing is because it looked so different with the wide hood molding? Have a couple of '71's myself, hope you change your mind and keep yours.
Nope don't plan on getting rid of the wide chrome trim. May add the rubber bumpers though if I can find them
