I drive my 67 Barracuda to the track often, race, then drive home. Only once did that bite me in the butt...5 years ago, third round of a race it kicked a rod out the side just before the finish line. Had to call the wife to come get me, grab the truck and trailer, scoop up my pile and take it home.

That said, I have also won quite a few races on days when I drove it in. Here is the combo:

67 Barracuda, 3250 lbs
408 stroker, ported Edelbrocks, Hughes solid FT cam (264/268 @ 0.05), Howards EMD lifters
Victor intake, 13:1 compression, home build 750dp e85 carb (running e85 obviously),
727, 8" PTC converter, Caltracs (mono's, links, shocks), MO875 with spool and 4.10 gears, Hoosier 275/60/r15 drag radials
All this through 3" Dynomax race bullets.

Car runs 1.38 60', 6.44@105.9mph, 10.19@130.5mph.

Running on e85 means I can drive it anytime during the summer and not worry about it getting too hot....heck, most races I never use my fan, lol.
