Based on many aircraft crashes/fatalities, there can be seconds to a minute of what must be pure horror as the crash plays out for the passengers.

I'm thinking so far, this one was effectively instant.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
