this is somewhat relevant, in that it applies to non-recommended fluid, but i have ran, and continue to run, dexron in my 4spd front drive minivans for 100's of thousands of miles with absolutely NO problems what so ever. 95 minivan - over 318k+ [speedometer broke], 2000 minivan - 240k, 99 minivan - 168k, my wife's 94 chrysler concorde - 138k.
but we don't do dragstrip duty either.

i wouldn't sweat ford fluid in a 727, no matter the brand chosen.
