The problem comes from the extra HP creating additional g-forces, which attempt to push the fuel back towards the tank. A small or weak pump will tend to stall or reduce flow at that critical point in time. As mentioned aboce, the NOS is entering the motor at 950 psi, and the fuel at 6 psi. At this 6psi, a 1 lb drop in fuel pressure can be a 16% change in air/fuel ratio.
Therefore most reliable NOS systems go "overkill" on the fuel system to insure the system is running at the air/fuel it was tuned for.
