7/16 - 20 bolts get 65 ft lbs correct? Also I've seen the lock tite post hundreds of times but don't remember the general consensus.... So I'll ask it again Lock tite or not to lock tite on the flex plate to converter bolts

Personally, we run a glide but I loctite the bolts with red, not going to hurt, but may save a flexplate, if the bolts back out. John

Blue Loctite on my flex plate to crank bolts. Just a lock washer on my converter to flex plate bolts. The last couple years the trans has been coming out about every 10-15 passes so it needs to be easy. I've never used Loctite on the converter bolts.

Does the blue work better than the red? The blue is weaker, but does it "give" enough to work better in this particular application?

red is supposed to be permanent, blue is removable. both will keep them from backing out 1 is harder to take out

2 acers worth of thick grass. I just like to make sure it looks nice. Sharp blades and a walker ztr mower gets the baseball field look.

If your using green, you'll need heat to get them off. That's permanent loc-tite. I like the red and really crank down on the bolts with a 12 point open end wrench and put a long bar over the end of the wrench for better leverage.

A member by the name of Twin Turbo Mower answers this Q ...and I ask HIM if he uses this stuff on his MOWER BLADES.
A reasonable Q ....I think so.

Wow! So everyone uses loctite, just depends what color you want to use... I think I'll use blue, in case I need to take it out.... Thanks for all the answers, and if I need any lawn mower tech I know where to come as well

use red. If they are a little snug when you take them out then just warm the bolt(I use a little propane torch) and they come right out. You don't need to heat the hell out of it, just warm it up.
BTW, if you ever take apart a car(any daily driver-foreign or domestic) you will see loctite residue on just about every fastener.
MB
Thats because they are less concerned with you taking it apart than with leaks.
The conv bolts you buy from MP has a bit of lock- tite on each and I dont rememmber what color it is, might be blue or red... I hit them with a impact through the starter area(not hammering on them)
