Well to clear up a few things here. I just purchased these today and found out that these came from The persons Uncle who worked for Chrysler In Michigan back in the old days and has passed away these were found in in his House. He Had several sets and I purchased them all. So I am sure of them being the real deal and not repo !

Several sets? Are they all red? What are the part numbers on the sections for the quarter extensions?

IMO pre-production samples that never saw production, like a '72 GTX grill emblem.

I have no documentation on any RRs equipped with a red stripe. Though I really only "track" E-bodies in my registry, I would have kept any info on a B-Body i thought to be odd.

In the '80s, red stripes were available for T/As too, but the factory only offered them in black.

I bet they Didnt have a Chrysler part number on them !
Also I could be wrong but if I remeber correctly on the E-bodies they offered different colors later on in the yeasr and did not show up in any colision books or parts books either.

Additional colors were added for the R/T and new stripes added for other models. T/As were always black and could not be deleted.

Things don't just show up or go away without there being documentation. Whether it's a TSB, PIB, update to a trim selector, or whatever.

-Several stripes, all red
-only center sections not complete rear sets
-from a guy that worked for Chrysler
-one number off before the black stripe production number.

I'm with Dan on this one.

70Runnerdude, send some pictures and the story of your purchase to Rob Wolf at MCG magazine and I bet your "Chrysler Files: Prototype Red 70 Road Runner Stripes" story gets printed.

I think those are real Chrysler P/N's. They just were not "released" and used into production. A set of drawings with a p/n on it doesn't even mean they even make a prototype (in this case they did though). But if someone decides to flip the switch and use that p/n in production, the drawings with p/n's are ready to go.

14 center sections only! What do you do with 14 of those? Wouldn't be surprised if the uncle had more, but how many red RR stripes can you put on your: boat, garage wall, and kids toy wagons.

Funny about that picture. Looks about the right size to just be about a fist full of stripes.

My question has to do with stripes in general.
Were the tail stripe and dust trails a package? Or could you get the tail stripe on the 70 RR without the dust trails? Thanks.

The decklid stripe was standard on the hardtop & convertible.
The decklid stripe was part of the optional ($81.50) A87 - "decor package" on the coupe.
The dust trail stripe was a $15.55 option.

Will the dust trail stripe always be on the fender tag? Sorry to stray off topic

Anyone else seen or heard of such a stripe since this was posted ?
Just curious .
Also anyone have a set of the end stripes that they could make a tracing for me of so I could see if I can cut them out of one center stripe ?
