I am doing an engine swap and painting engine bay on my 71 Road Runner and was wondering if there were any tricks in holding up the transmission from the top? I will want to move the car around during this time and don't want to support the auto trans from the bottom. I also need clearance to paint under the hood.
Thanks in advance

a piece of 1/4"flat steel bar on edge with some holes in it to bolt to the front of the tranny case and made to lay on the frame rails will let you do want your wanting. dave

did basicly the same thing with a piece of 1/2 pipe , no drilling required , just put 2 long bolts into the lower holes that get the bolts that come in from the block side ...

That's the missing concept I was looking for.
Thanks a lot.

Some 3/4x3/4 angle aluminum worked well for me.

a tie strap run from frame rail to frame rail under the bell works

a couple coat hangers wraped in the bolt holes and tied to the fire wall

what they said all work also

good luck

A half-inch pipe and two bolts works for me.
