I looked for Emery cloth and found 1" wide on a roll with 320 grit. I was really wanting a sheet. I can't find cotton sash cord to turn the cloth. Can I accurately mic the journal with a vernier caliper with a gauge? I don't want to go too small. BTW new standard Federal Mogul rod bearings are $3.99 each!! If you buy a set it is $49.98!! Fuzzy math! Should I plastigauge the mains to decide on changing them?

I wouldn't have bothered pulling the crank but now that you have you might call a local machine shop & see what it would cost to have it turned & get new bearings...I know a shop local to me that turns 75% of all the cranks for other area machine shops I can get a kit with the turned crank & new rods & mains for $120.00...

I am going to hold off on the polishing for a while. I will get the right stuff. If it is easier pulling the crank to change seals it is coming out. I want to look at the whole thing while I am in there. I found some schrapnel that is non magnetic in the pump gears. I think I could reuse this pump? I have a new one, and another on the way. Pics coming! Can I find in stock locally ofset timing gear keys? I may degree the cam to the new double roller I got from Cox Brothers Racing in '04. Wanna go for economy! bonefish master B Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 7,274 s.w.fl	thats what i was giong to say,i beleive thats called the TENNESEE PRE FILTER it keeps you from having to buy those pesky screw in types and the less oil you get to the engine the less chance of contamination.i got that right straight from the mouth of an old hillbilly who couldnt beleive no one could figer it out.

They have another crank there that is .030 under and ready to go. Right size for the 74 converter. $70 No wonder the rear main was leaking so bad!
