Just curious, as to how many true, street legal 10 second B Body cars are out there. By street legal,it must have insurance, registration, or anything else necessary to drive on the street legally. I'd also like to know the combo's.
4 speed street legal. Best time 10.99 @ 124 mph on 93 octane pump gas @ 3926# total weight

My 67 Belvedere ran 10's every day during Drag Week 2017 with a normally aspirated 596 Hemi, 727, leaf springs, 315/60 MT Drag radial, Dana 60. Car is caged and certed, but since I didn't have a comp license I was limited to 10's, and was not using everything the car had. Best speed of the week was 138 mph, best ET was 10.26. We drove the car about a thousand miles that week. All driving and passes on pump gas.

3.55 gear, 3200 stall (on motor only), E85, 360 with a stock cast crank, 230@.050" hydraulic roller (.540" lift), 76mm turbo, no intercooler.
Full everything... exhaust to the bumper, bench seat, steel wheels, etc...
I will say I never drive it in the rain though, as I don't trust the 275 MT PRO's in the rain even though they are DOT (very little tread).
It's been 10.99 or better since the very first time it hit the track 6 years ago.

Hey Lar, I had a 68 Charger that went 10.70's back in 2000. It was all steel, full interior, steelies, dog dishes and et streets, no cage and dynomax mufflers/exhaust. It had a 451 with Indy srs, 660 roller, 1090 king demon, 5200 converter and 4.56. Was not pump gas, but I drove it everywhere including to and from the track several times (70 miles ea way!). Best pass was a 10.70 at 126, but I did drop the exhaust for that one.
I also went 10.98 once in my old 65 Coronet wagon, but I wouldn't call it a 10 second car since it only happened once.

My old Pro Street 69 Charger used to be. It ran low 11.0's on motor. Low 10.0's on one kit & in the mid 9's on the second kit which was pretty fast in the 80's/90's. Now days some people's daily drivers could take it.

Here in Aust the authorities , police , are a lot stricter . Mine is my daily driver . 10.70 with my 440 , 10.25 before the 505 block gave up . Solid flat tappet cams , under 11.0:1 comp run on 98 pump gas . 440 has .520 nett lift cam , 505 has .600 nett lift Have a new World block going together , 505 , should run 10.20s Car has 5 point rollbar no rear seat , needs bar for track . Not enough rear head room with bar so no rear passengers allowed for street . Runs on pro bracket radials , take them out of the boot and swap at track , no race slicks on the street . Raced through the exhaust , dumps at diff , my class also requires mufflers . Still has stock interior with bench seat and heater demister .

Ran 10's on the old wedge. Hopefully quicker with the new setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIl-88xIsQwhttps://youtu.be/IcNgpdQA4YI... By street legal,it must have insurance, registration, or anything else necessary to drive on the street legally. I'd also like to know the combo's. Old set up: 446, 10.8:1, OOTB Performers (open chamber), Crane Gold rocker arms, .590 Purple Shaft, ~150hp NOS. New set up: ???

Mine has run 10.70's a few times and usually runs 10.80's on average days. In fact it ran 10.76 one of the first times out and I have made no changed to it since 2011 which is why it still runs the same. I just wanted to hit 10's in full street trim just as I drive it through the full exh on 92 pump usually but I have even had 87 pump in it when by mistake I put 87 in it. Still ran fine with no ping. Its a mild 440/493 that I can drive anywhere. I use Indy EZ heads and a Dwayne Porter solid flat tappet cam that's 264 & 270 @ .050 with .585 & .592 lift on a 110 LSA. Its 10.6 comp and I run the Indy dual plane intake with a Holley 850 DP. I have never uncapped the car and never had race gas in it. Its a 727 auto with a Dynamic 9.5 street/strip converter and I love driving it.The car body is all stock and all steel other then the glass hood. No tubs and no springs moved any. Ron

Ive got a 505” pump gas motor with solid flat tappet cam at 10.4 comp. at 3900 lbs, it runs 10.75 @ 127mph. Edelbrock rpm just cleaned up a bit with a victor intake and 1050. 4speed stickshift with 4.30 rear. Alot of fun and i do drive it all the time. Driven 200+ miles each way to Carlisle for show.

Interesting responses. From what I've read, just about everyone is running a stroker, except for, maybe three. Just about everyone is running an auto, except three. Most have some type of power adder. Seems like a pretty exclusive group, though. Good job everyone.

Larry...Not a B body obviously, but my 'cuda went 10.40s at 129 mph (all motor) w/ a stock crank 440, unported Indy SR heads, .660"/266° at .050 solid roller, Weiand Team G and a 1050 dominator at 3700 lbs. 727 w/ 4.10 gears, 28x10.5 tire.
Drove it on the street a lot. It was probably the most fun street combo I've had in it. The current combo in the car is like driving on wet pavement almost all the time when you try to play w/ it on the street.

I would love to see what that car would do with a Turbo G3 Hemi in it....

My 67 GTX qualifies. Itis streetable, street legal, licenced and insured. But to be honest, it has seen very limited street use. I don't want to wear it out street driving. It's gone 10.80's on the G70-14 Coker bias plys. I think it would go mid to low 10's on decent rubber. Maybe in 2019 I will find out.

Yep I agree, I have no problem whatsoever with a cool looking big tire car that runs 11s or 12s. To me the whole idea is to have fun while we're on this ride spinning around the sun over and over, however the heck we want. Not all of us require X tire size and Y ET to match for happiness. I know how hard it is to get into the tens with a 3900 pound, stick, street car. I was just wondering how many others of us were getting it done. The way I look at it is, if your car makes YOU happy, that's all that counts. After all, you, (we, Me), aren't building, working on our cars to make someone else happy. It's to please us.

I have really enjoyed reading about all these great combo's on here. Its interesting to see how many went about it to meet their goals. I always enjoy reading about street combo's that are kinda like normal drivers. It was important to me that I built my car to run good on 91 to 93 pump as I wanted to drive it a lot and be able to get gas in any gas station I pull into. And I wanted my car very driver friendly where it would start easy and have good all around driveability. Besides I cant afford to build anything real fast anyway as I know that's out of my ballpark with my health and financial situation. But I gotta say I love being able to just drive my car anytime I want to a cruise , car show or to the track. And I love the Nostalgia Super Stock racing and so far every club I wanted to race with was glad to have me. I hope to hit a few NSS races this year if my budget lets me as my local track (Cecil County) has a club (Uninted NSS) that runs a race once a month and my son and I had a blast at their race in Oct. Basically just bracket racing with the cars I love. Best of luck to everyone with their cars and Merry Christmas to all my Moparts friends. Ron I agree. I'd much rather drive my car than do all trailer crap and deal with the track and the rules blah blah blah. Pump gas, drive to the track and drive home. That's fun. And I can drive year round.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

I tell ya with my back and knee problems it is nice that when I am done racing and everyone is crawling under their cars to tie them down on or in their trailers all I do is put a little air back in the rear tires and then drive home. Heck lately just bending over putting air in my tires is tuff enough on my knee's and back. But it would be a bummer if I break something with no tow but knock on wood since I first raced and drove my 63 to the track in 2007 it has always driven home. I did break a few teeth on an axle gear once but it still drove home fine as it just jumped a little on turns. As long as nothing breaks I love it. But my brother lives about 5 miles from Cecil where I usually race so if I break I can get it towed to his house and fix it there as my house is 45 miles from the track. Ron
