Was informed by Callies yesterday that they have discontinued making BB Mopar Crankshafts, other than Billet. They informed me they have sold their last stock of Magnum/Dragon Slayer to Indy.

Any other options out there in-between a Chinese crank or a $3000+ billet deal?

Callies says this every few years to get the racers nervous and to go out and spend on one. I think Indy has a lot to do with this.
I doubt this is true.
You will see Callies Mopar cranks again, I guarantee.

There are plenty of options, just depends on what you need and how big your budget is. SCAT has the internal capability to do a lot of stuff with raw forgings so you can get almost anything from them. SCAT builds stroker cranks with Honda journals and stuff like that which nobody else offers. On my last project I worked with a crank engineer at SCAT and he had the ability to design most anything I wanted as long as it fit into the confines of their rough forging.

If you aren't looking for anything that exotic then Molnar provides really nice high quality cranks made from off shore forgings.

Not personal but I've read good things about Molnar.

Nothing too crazy, 4.150 stroke with BB Mopar size journals.

Naturally Aspirated truck puller, so it sees sustained rpm in the 7500-8000 rpm range.

Callies did say "billet is way overkill" when I called.

so what aftermarket block do you have lined up for these "7500-8000 rpm" pulls?

I would skip the BB MoPar journals. Get a cranks with BBC throws and be done with it.

440Source

Been 150mph in the 1/8 with an out of the box 440Source crank. It's been in the car 3 years.

Its a Koleno Block, been running the combination for a lot of years, just thinking I should be looking at a crank upgrade next time its apart and was shocked to find what Callies told me, and even more shocked when I looked at a Crower/Bryant pricing and availability.

On your deal, substained high RPM under WOT load, I would make sure the crank has the center counterweights and buy the best material you can get. I like and use Ohio Crankshaft Company (800-333-7113) BB Mopar stroker cranks since 1998 with no failures or come backs up scope They will grind any combination you ask for including making you a billet steel fully counter weighted crankshaft that will be good up to 3000+ HP thumbs I haven't needed or used any of those type yet but they are available work

Thanks for your input everyone. I had heard about center counterweights but didnt know where to start inquiring after what Callies told me. I saw Ohio Crank offered a billet hemi crank for $1700 but wondered if i could get it with flywheel locating ring instead of flat snout.

Ohio Crankshaft CO. will finish thier custom ground stroker cranks any way you want them. All the forged steel stroker cranks I've bought(15+) from them came with the stock 8 bolt 1/2 inch 426 Street Hemi pattern on the flanges with the locating ring built in, not the earlier 392 top fuel patterns with no locating ring built into the crankshafts up All the other aftermarket wedge motor forged steel stroker cranks I've bought and used had the standard 383/440 six bolt pattern 7/16 bolt size on the flanges shruggy
BTW, Keith Black Enterprises,562-869-1518 sells press in locating rings to use on the top fuel type cranks to use a torque converter in them up I've two or more bracket motors out there using the old top fuel cranks with those locating rings in them with no problems so far thumbs shruggy

Crower is a great alternative and make center counterweight pieces

I bought a Crower center weighted crank with 440 size mains and rods, 4.15 stroke, made of 304M I believe? Cost $2300 back in 2010. Beautifully machined balancing on the counter weights, not drilled.
I had some cap walk issues on my cross bolted Megablock. They went away when I upgraded to the center counter weights.
